What is 'Diffusion of Innovation' theory?

sourced from http://mediaexposure1.blogspot.co.nz/2011_07_01_archive.html

This has been shown to me several times now at various professional development. It is an important image becuase it describes who takes up new ideas and when or if. It is known as the diffusion of innovation theory and when mentoring you should consider who you match with who. An innovator with a laggard will never work!! The early majority will effectively support late majority and late majority will support the laggards. It is important to nurture people little bits at a time. Interestingly, and unfortunately, the innovators will leave teaching before the laggards will.

Where do you fit on the grid?

This website will give detailed explanation of each type.
