Welcome to my epic journey of self discovery, developing my understanding of education, how we learn and ways to grow as a professional alongside other like minded people that I meet along the way.

What is the formal process for a mihi whakatau?
My first experience of a Mihi Whakatau was when I was welcomed into Merrin School where I now work.
A mihi is a formal way of respecting people by acknowledging their mana and tapu (dignity and sacredness). It is a sign of hospitality and respect to mihi on important occasions.
Being such a new experience , I wanted to find out more so I felt more comfortable in the process and was ensuring I was respectful as we all went through such a special time together.
A break down of the full formal event is here
